Picture this: you're cozied up, ready to embrace the whimsy of Groundhog's Day, and suddenly you're on a rollicking trip down memory lane, debating the raw energy of KISS's original lineup and their studio albums. That's the sort of nostalgic jolt we kick off with in our latest Friday Night Live, where technical hiccups can't dampen our spirits or stop the calls and comments from rolling in. As we invite our listeners to weigh in on the rock legends' discography, we're reminded that every voice adds a unique note to our rock and roll symphony.

Ever wondered how a taste of Jeppson's Malort might compare to the thrill of a live Queen tribute? Well, this episode's got you covered, as I recount plans for a weekend escapade with Kathryn that promises to be nothing short of epic. Amidst the excitement, we share our campaign trail enthusiasm and drop a few hints about potential guests, including rockers Mick Box and Bruce Kulick. Brace yourselves for a lively discussion, peppered with Kathryn's cheeky challenges, that will leave you with a longing for the heady days of rock and a taste for the unknown.

Concluding on a reflective note, I peel back the curtain on the podcasting world's double edges, balancing the grind of a full work week with the dedication to bring you stories that resonate, whether they're headlined by celebrities or the unsung heroes with a beat in their heart. Raising a toast to a successful show and the listeners who make it all worthwhile, we wrap things up with a reminder to join us on this wild ride every Friday night, where laughter, music, and live interaction fuse into an experience that's as unpredictable as it is delightful. #tellyourstory #familymatters #spotify #malort #fridaynightlive

Speaker 1:

Hey there, everyone, welcome back. Welcome back to Friday Night Live, the Groundhog's Day edition. Yeah, that's what it is. Happy Groundhog's Day everyone. Yes, friday Night Live again. What do you think of that? I thought it went okay last week. We had two whole viewers, so why not try it again? You never know what you can do unless you try. So here we are. See how many viewers we can get up to tonight.

Speaker 1:

Now, if you're watching of course it's live, of course you're watching on YouTube you'll see the crawl on the bottom of the screen. It's got a phone number on there Call it. Call into the program. Alright, let's have some fun tonight. Yeah, let's have a lot of fun. Alright, I'm going to be here just for a little bit, so why not? Let's have a good time.

Speaker 1:

So before we get started, though, as you know, this program is always available on multiple podcast outlets like Apple Podcasts, amazon Music and Spotify, or you can simply search the Ben Meader program and choose your option from there. Again, if you're watching right here on YouTube, which you are then please subscribe to the channel, give me a thumbs up and leave a comment. Comments are great. I'm going to get into some comments in a minute. Last but not least, just follow me on Instagram. Ben Meader program. All one word. So, as always, plenty of ways to take in this program for your dancing and listening pleasure. Alright, so again, we had some fun last week. I'm trying to pop up yeah, I'm trying to pop up the comments here, and I had a ton of fun last week.

Speaker 1:

Like I said, we only had I believe it was two viewers, and I'm not sure, but I think one of them was my wife, so maybe only really had one. Got in a couple of phone calls, although I'll tell you this, I played it back and I usually don't. I usually don't listen to this show. I only play it back on the video version of it, just so I can see it before it goes out, before I publish it on YouTube or I publish the audio on Buzzsprout, but other than that, I don't listen to the program once it's published. I don't watch it once it's published. But let me see what we got here. Hold on, Hold on. We got a comment. Oh, wait, wait, wait, where'd it go? There it is. Ah, there it is. Oh, yeah, I got a comment. All right, hold on a second here and let me, let me. It says keep up the show. Oh, yes, it's from my wife. Yes, let's see, you Got whoops, got it? I think I got it. Let me see Boom Did it hit it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, all right, we have a little bit of engagement. Now we're up to two viewers, cool. So where was I going with this? Oh yeah, so I don't really listen to the to the show Once I publish it, but I I did listen to last Friday's show and I noticed that the two phone calls it was really difficult to hear the person on the other line One one was my niece, brenda, and the other one was my brother, jim. So I apologize for that. I'm hoping to rectify that today.

Speaker 1:

I had a lot of issues when I got home from work and I came up here to the studio and I had about 90 minutes before before we started live streaming. So I came into the studio, started setting everything up. I'm checking the phone to see if you know how it's going to sound. Well, it normally comes through my laptop. I can connect it to the laptop and it comes right through. Everything's good. It wasn't happening. I don't know why, but if we get any phone calls tonight, then I have a cheap workaround. But I think it's going to, it's going to be all right. So just so you know. Anyway, so happy Groundhog's Day. Let's see. Before we get into anything else, I want to go over some comments from the KISS Studio Albums. Ranked that was last. When did we record that?

Speaker 2:

Last.

Speaker 1:

Saturday, that's right. So, and like I said I told you, if you, if you send me comments, I'm going to read them. I'm going to read them on the show and I certainly I appreciate everyone taking time out of their day to not only watch but to engage in and leave comments. So, let's see. The first one was from let's see. What does he say here? I can't. Oh, wrong, wrong one. Let's see. I can't see the whole name, but it's Ken. So Ken says nice work here, putting this all together, my, my KISS. And he says in quotations my KISS are the first six LPs Love Gun good album, but clearly not the original lineup.

Speaker 1:

As a drummer for 50 years and growing up with this band, I still question it. Peter was the drummer on Rock and Rollover. Well, I know what you're talking about, ken, and I haven't heard anything regarding Love Gun or Rock and Rollover. As far as there being a ghost player, we know that Bob Kulik was definitely a ghost player in the 70s and and I think even into the 80s on a few tracks we did the live or the not sorry, not the live, but the studio stuff on a live too. But I haven't heard anything about any ghost players on Love Gun, or even Peter not playing drums on the whole album, part of the album, any of it, for for Rock and Rollover. So I can't really say one way or another. I you know, I just haven't heard anything. So if there's something out there that you've heard, leave me a comment, let me know. Or if you happen to be watching, call in. Hey, phone number's right there at the bottom of the screen 909-268-5135. That's our number. That's the number to this show. Let's see. Then John Doar. John Doar, 7-8-9-0.

Speaker 1:

He left a comment, said nice video, sir, and gave me a thumbs up, yeah. Then the coverups. There's something else to it. When I, when I click onto these comments, it kind of cuts off the name. But the coverups says lovely channel, dude, I'm watching all of your videos from start to finish. I hope that you can reach the thousand subscriber mark within this year. So do I. I do too. That would be great.

Speaker 1:

And then he goes on and asks did you check out the medieval death LP plus DVD and the Moricus rights and trials LP? What is your opinion on these two? Let's see. I think that's a record label in Europe. I did reply to him and I have not heard of either of those artists. I don't know that. I've even heard of that record label and, like I told him in my comments in my reply to him, I did look up the two bands and their death metal and real, real extreme and probably a little too extreme for me. So, no, I haven't checked those out. But I so appreciate you watching all of these shows and participating comments are great.

Speaker 1:

Then hard rockology left a comment, also not real happy with me I mean probably not mad but says Dynasty at 16, really Some of Ace's best tracks are on that album and I completely agree. Some of Ace's best songs are on the album but for the reasons I stated, that's where it slots. It slots at 16 for me. So I guess when I put the list together and I started going through it and started ranking things, I said to myself at first wow, I can't believe I have Dynasty this low. But when I look at the other albums and you put it all together, that's where it is.

Speaker 1:

Okay, let's see no new comments yet. No new comments coming through. We're still stuck at two viewers. So pick it up people, let's go Get on board. Yeah, this is all right, this is gonna be fun. Let me get some water here.

Speaker 1:

But yesterday excuse me, yesterday, catherine and I happened to be talking on the phone at some point and she says, oh, somebody left a comment on the Kiss episode, said you suck. And I said they did. And she says yeah, yeah, so I have an opportunity to look it up. Until I got home from work last night and if they did, they deleted it because it wasn't there. So, bummer, bummer for me, because I was hoping that, look, if somebody did leave that comment, thank you for it. I mean, I thank you for it, but just doing my thing here, doing the best I can, and there you go. But if I suck that bad, then stick with me and watch the improvement. That's all no big deal, it's all right, and everybody has an opinion. It's cool, it's cool. So, yeah, so, besides, besides Groundhog Day you gotta love it. You gotta love daysoftheyearcom.

Speaker 1:

Today is also National Crape Day, world Play your Ukulele Day. I don't have one, so I'm not playing. National River Day, okay. National Bubblegum Day, number Day Now, I do appreciate this one here. National Catchers Day yeah, I love that. I love that. That was. I was a catcher. All the years that I played ball, I was a catcher, so I appreciate that one. Let's see what is 2F a day? I don't know, not sure what that is. Then it's oh, I did hear about this one Candlemas Day, national Hedgehog Day. So Sonic has to share a day with the Groundhog. What's this? A Puxitani fill? Yeah, gotta share the day. Wow, oh, this one's cool.

Speaker 1:

National Working Naked Day. Well, I didn't work naked, but this is kind of work. I could just buck it off right here. How's that? I bet my views would go down to zero if I did that. So I'll save you all the. I'll save you the wanting to poke your eyes out. What else do we have? National Wear Red Day. National Give Kids a Smile Day that goes out to all of you. National Sled Dog Day, Marmo Day, national Tater Tot Day. Okay, world Wetlands Day. National Brown Dog Day there's too many, too many.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, way too many. Okay, we gotta stop it with that. It's okay to have a couple of days to you know a couple of things to celebrate each day. Let's put it that way. But serious, so when we get some more viewers, we're gonna.

Speaker 1:

I just might bust this out for those of you that are watching, this is Mallort. I was introduced to Mallort via the Heidi and Frank show and for those of you not, here in the Los Angeles area, the Heidi and Frank show is the morning morning drive time show on KLOS, the only rock station left in the LA market, and yeah, I was introduced to Mallort through them. They like to do these little fun things challenges, the Mallort challenge and they'll have a trivia or something like that and get the callers involved. And when people get the wrong answer, then the folks in the studio have to take a shot of Mallort. So if we get a phone call, I'm gonna take a shot of Mallort. You know, as I've stated before, I'm not a huge drinker, so this will be something different. I'm not gonna try. I mean, I'm trying not to get trashed on the air, but give me a phone call and I'll take a drink. All right, I got my Captain Kirk shot glass right here, ready to go, ready for you.

Speaker 1:

So how was everyone's week? You all have a good week. Today is Friday, it's Friday night and we're live. Yes, again, it was so good the first time we had to do it another time. I promise you, though, we're gonna take next Friday off. All right, so go ahead and plan your night, do your thing, do your thing, go to dinner, go out dancing, whatever it is you're gonna do. Take your wife, take your husband to the movies, and you won't have to worry about tuning into this show next week. Okay, we're taking next Friday off. So, yeah, how was everyone's week? Mine was pretty good. It was another long week at work, but that's all right. That's just kind of par for the course. As far as my job is concerned, that was another 60 hour week. I hope everybody else worked a lot less than I did, but you never know.

Speaker 1:

Going back to what I mentioned about listening to this show or not, listening to this show, this show or not listening to the show, the playback and that kind of thing, I did start listening to a few episodes this week. I know how they look because I'm staring at a camera as I do this, but I don't know how they sound. So I thought, well, let me listen to this and see how, just see how it sounds, see how I feel about it only here, in the audio and not the video. So I've been doing that and I have to be honest with myself. I could do a little better. And when I say that, I truly believe the content that I'm bringing, show in and show out, I believe the content is really good, I believe it's really strong. But there have been times that, or there have been episodes where I felt like, okay, I could have done a lot better job at getting this material across or getting the information out, presenting it better. But maybe that's just me. I think most of us, we are our own worst critic or we're hardest on ourselves. So maybe it's just me. But at least I can be honest with myself and not think that everything that I've done is perfect. It sounds perfect, it looks perfect. So I have been trying to make a concerted effort to deliver things a little better. Let's put it that way. So we're gonna see how that goes moving forward, right, some things coming up. At least I hope they're coming up. I've been working on some guests and I'll let you know who I'm working on. It shouldn't be a secret. I'm hoping to get them on the program.

Speaker 1:

For those that live in the Southern California area here, primarily Los Angeles, we had a sheriff, la County Sheriff by the name of Alex Villanueva. He is running for LA County Board of Supervisors and I thought, well, let's reach out, let's see if we can get him on the program. So I have extended an invitation to Alex to come on the program, talk about his candidacy, kind of fill in everybody on what a County Board of Supervisors position is. We now have three viewers. Yes, nice, stick with us here. Check out the bottom of the screen. You'll see the phone number. It's right there. Give me a call, there's a right here. Okay, because you're new. Okay, I'm taking a drink of my Lord if someone calls in. Okay. So I've extended the invite to Alex to come in.

Speaker 1:

Like I said, talk about his candidacy but, even more than that, share his story about being LA County Sheriff. What was that like? What does that all entail? I think, as I think, that we have an idea or a perception as to what that is, but certainly would be interesting to hear it from the Sheriff's perspective, really hear about it. So, like I said, I've extended the invite to Alex. We'll see if he comes on. And then Does everyone remember Steve Garvey, former Dodger first baseman played most of his career with the Dodgers, finished up his career with San Diego Padres. I'm sure everybody remembers Steve Garvey. You might not know he's running for US Senate for the state of California, yeah. So I thought it would be neat to reach out to him and try to get him on the program as well. So I have sent out the invitation and we'll see what happens, crossing my fingers. I was a big fan of Steve Garvey anyway when I was a kid, so that would really really be a treat. But I don't know, we'll see. Oh, you know what? No one's called in yet, but we're gonna get this ready. Now.

Speaker 1:

For those of you that are not familiar, jepsen's Malort is dubbed the worst tasting alcohol ever. Okay, the worst. Well, you can see it. There's about a third of the bottle missing. This has been aging for ooh, I don't know three, four years, I don't know In my family room, just sitting there at room temperature. I probably should have put it like in the trunk of my oh, I don't have a trunk. I could have put it in the trunk of Catherine's car. Yeah, that's what I could have done. So it's ready to go. Okay, it's ready to go. All somebody has to do is call. Doesn't matter who, just call. All right, call into the program.

Speaker 1:

So what's everyone's plans for tomorrow or for the weekend? Any big plans? Leave a comment. Come on, we've got the chat going, so chat away. If you're shy about calling and getting on the air, then get into the chat. How's that? Ooh, get into the chat. How's that? I think I did that last week too. I made a rhyme oh, cool.

Speaker 1:

Well, for Catherine and I, we are going to see my new friend, pauly Z. It's got a show tomorrow night with his queen tribute band, bohemian Queen, so we're going tomorrow to check that show out. We are so stoked about it. Catherine loves Queen, so she really yeah, she's really into this. She's been checking out Pauly's videos.

Speaker 1:

He's been posting a lot of videos on YouTube singing various or doing various cover songs, and so she had no idea how good his voice was, so she'd been checking. I'm like, oh my gosh, he has such a good voice. Well, yeah, he does. He actually has a really powerful voice, a real powerful voice. So I watched a couple of them. He did a cover of Jukebox Hero, which was so good Okay, wait, hold it, take that one back. It was dynamite. I was sad, okay. And then I watched a cover of Faithfully I just couldn't believe it. It was incredible, absolutely incredible and, like I said, I knew he had a real powerful voice, but I didn't know it was that good. I mean as good as he's demonstrating on these videos, just I mean otherworldly really, to be honest with you. So even more so I am looking forward to seeing the show tomorrow night, so we'll see how that goes.

Speaker 1:

Some other folks that I'm reaching out to Mick Box from Uriah Heap and reaching out to Bruce Kulik, formerly of Kiss. I'm really hoping to get Bruce on here. Bruce seems like such a great guy and I'd like to get some of his stories from his time in the band. Not only that I don't know how many of you out there are familiar with what was the name of the band. I think it was Blackjack. They formed in the 70s. They didn't really do much, but Michael Bolton was the lead singer of that band and him and Bruce Kulik were in that band together Before obviously before Bruce's time in Kiss and before Michael went out on his own and started recording and began his solo career, which, for most people you might not realize.

Speaker 1:

That was in 1983, when he had his debut solo album. Yes, it was. If you don't believe me, check it out and you will see a side of Michael Bolton that you didn't even know was there. This was a more rocked out Michael Bolton, not the adult, contemporary Michael Bolton. How am I supposed to live without you? What was soul provider? When a man loves a woman sitting on the dock of the bay, that kind of stuff. So, really, really good album, really good album. And he had a big old mane of hair, just like he did for those early years of his solo career. But check it out. Anyway, it looks like we've dropped, a couple of years ago, a couple of viewers, I don't know.

Speaker 1:

Oh, I'm getting a text from Catherine. Instead of her calling in, she's a call in. She just says more energy, more energy. Well, what does she want me to do? Get up and dance. I don't think I'm lacking it so much, but you never know. That's okay, I can take a little bit of criticism.

Speaker 1:

I mean, she told me how the guy leave a comment and said that I really suck at this. I didn't see the comment. I've looked on all the videos. I don't see it anywhere. But who knows, like I said, the guy could have taken it down. He might've felt bad. Oh no, I don't want to upset him. I don't want to hurt Ben's feelings. Well, you're not going to hurt my feelings, trust me. But keep watching here. Keep watching, come on back in. People Check it out.

Speaker 1:

Oh, she leaves me a comment. You actually can dance. Really, I'm going to do that. I don't think so. That's great. She should come in and drink malort with me. Is what she should do. Yeah, she's fun after she's had a couple of drinks in her. Catherine is fun. Well, she's fun anyway, but she's even more fun let's put it that way. She's like fun with the capital F. Oh, more will watch if I dance. Well, how are they going to know I'm dancing if they're not watching? Huh, how's that work? I should put out a couple of phone calls. Oh wait, let me see. Oh, okay, oh, you know what I did is I actually sent a text before I hit the live stream.

Speaker 1:

Then I had a text to my brother. I don't know if you heard on his phone call last week he was talking about making. I think he talked about making mead and he's getting into brewing. Ever since we did our stout tasting show and we have been venturing out into stouts. He's getting more and more into it. Now he wants to make his own.

Speaker 1:

But I guess he made this mead last week and he's been trying to get me to try it. He says do you want to try it? You want to try it, you want to try it tonight? I'm like brother, I'm back to work now I work. Okay, I can't be drinking the night before I go back to work. So we've been putting it off. Well, I sent him a text, said hey, bring that mead over, let's drink it on the air. And then he says oh, I'm tired, so that's not gonna happen. And then I reached out to my buddy, dennis, deep cut Dennis, to everybody out there, but he has his granddaughter, so buoy on that. Let's see what we can do here. Let's see what we can do. I put in, I put out a call to let's see if he answers. Come on, come on now. Let's see if he answers.

Speaker 2:

Oh, there it is.

Speaker 1:

There's the ring, see if he answers. I told him I was gonna go live. I told him I'm gonna give him a call. Come on, come on, lindsay, I'm not going to answer. He's not going to answer. He always stones me. This is my friend.

Speaker 1:

Bob, your call has been forward I knew that, ah, you're going to get it, man. Okay, well, let's try somebody else. Maybe we'll get the ball rolling here. Get some energy level. Come on, answer your phones fast. Come on. You know it is 730 on a Friday night. You know people probably have other things to do. You know they'd rather forward, they'd rather do those things and come on the. Come on side. You know it's cool. Let me see what I got here. I'm looking it up. Bear with me. I know. I know this is. This is like great, isn't it? This makes for great listening, doesn't it? Listening to somebody? There we go. Whoops, I'm going to go through their contacts.

Speaker 1:

Steve she answers Hello.

Speaker 3:

She answered the phone, lisa, why?

Speaker 1:

Hey, I don't know, I want to answer your phone, okay, you know, what? Okay, listen up what You're on the air.

Speaker 3:

Okay, okay, yeah, you're on the air Okay.

Speaker 1:

So, I tell you what? In honor of you answering the phone? Because I I actually put out a phone number for anyone watching the video or anyone watching the live stream to call in and they would go on the air. So I I said that if someone called in.

Speaker 3:

I would go on the air. Oh my god.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so. So no one has called in. In fact, I, I've, I've already made that. What have I made Two phone calls. No one answered their phone, and I told these people be ready, be ready, but they didn't answer. So since you are the first one to actually answer your phone number, you're going to have to answer your phone number How's that?

Speaker 1:

You know you're going to take us out of Malore. Yeah, you know you. You actually should go up on YouTube and watch the show while I'm doing this, although the feedback would probably be terrible. So hold on, let me see. Alright.

Speaker 3:

Alright, let's see if Lisa gets besides, I only have one view. Don't take your time until I'm watching. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1:

I was up to, you have to turn. Uh, if you're going to have it on your computer or whatever, you're going to have to turn the volume down, Alright hold on, Otherwise there's going to be a delay and it's going to be a mess. I was up to three views.

Speaker 3:

You're up to three. I was up to three views. Who is it Other?

Speaker 1:

than Catherine. Um, I don't know, because I don't know who. I don't know who's watching? You can't remember anything.

Speaker 1:

Well, catherine's in the chat, she, she's actually. She's actually chatting. I think she's sent me about, uh, five or six comments so far. Uh, she's giving me instructions. She's, you know, uh, telling me I need to pick up my energy. Uh, you know that kind of stuff. Oh my god. I said what am I supposed to do? Dance? And she says she sends another comment yeah, you actually can dance, oh gosh. So how are they going to know if they have more people are going to watch.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, like like they're going to know that I'm dancing. Oh, Ben's dancing, let's watch.

Speaker 3:

So oh they're you're live right there, yeah. I'm live right here.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, because you haven't come up yet. I'm still down to one one viewer? Yeah, I don't have any time to watch, let's, let's, let's. Catherine disconnected. She might be sick, she might have disconnected, who knows. Oh, catherine says do you want me to bring up the good stuff?

Speaker 1:

Uh well, I'm not trying to get the good stuff or bring up the good, bring up the good stuff. But I, like I said, I'm not trying to get. Oh, I'm up to three views already. Yes, I'm not trying to get the good stuff, I'm not answering the phone and coming on a lot coming up like okay this one's for you.

Speaker 3:

Okay, do it, do it.

Speaker 1:

Here, oh, here's nothing. Uh, like, uh. It's sitting in the back of my throat. It's terrible, oh, it's terrible. It's like a cute bucket. It just tastes like oh. It tastes like like no, it tastes like mouthwash that has gone bad, oh when did you get the bottle of Malort? Oh, I have like three of them. I've I've had them. You know me, I love to play these Malort challenges, but but everyone chickens out yeah.

Speaker 1:

I'm not going to play. I'm not gonna play. I'm not gonna play. It's just a game. Oh, anyway, yeah, see, I was hoping that people will either call in, they would, what do you? Said for person who calls in that you have to take a shot? Yeah, but they have to call in, okay, yeah, alright, I'm not going to take them because you're not going to Wait. Wait, wait, wait. Are you sending a text to someone? Are you telling? Someone to call in Maybe. Oh okay, Well, we'll see if it happens.

Speaker 1:

Oh, that was bad. It's, it's, it's like stuck to the roof of my mouth. Woo, stay here. Folks, all three, all three viewers, are you ready to get it? Yeah, when it starts getting good, You're gonna get trashed. No, I'm not gonna get trashed. You know I don't want to get trashed. I'm not a big drinker.

Speaker 3:

So I don't want to get tore up From the floor.

Speaker 1:

That's it. Yeah, uh, man, it's, it's still in, oh, it's still in my mouth, ugh. I'm gonna get it, I'll, I'll wait. Uh, does Malort? Did you see what she just asked? She asked if Malort has alcohol. Well, of course it does. Let me see. Uh course, hold on, I don't know how my glass on.

Speaker 3:

I can't see. It's too like the old days where you get everybody calling in the morning hey come on what is it who who did?

Speaker 1:

you call. I called my buddy Spaz and I called Bob and I and I and I actually texted Bob yesterday and I told him I said, uh, I'm gonna, I'm gonna go live and I'm gonna call you. Well, he didn't reply, but he was on the text at me and I was like what was your?

Speaker 1:

Oh no, I don't have a topic. This is just Friday Night Live. I thought you had it, okay. No, this is Friday Night Live. We just this, is it? This is like a potpour of any a, a, a, a, a, a potpour of anything. You know who you should do a group? Okay, catherine, see Catherine's producing the show through the chat. Through the, through the chat.

Speaker 3:

Why? How come I can't see her? Thanks for you're not watching.

Speaker 1:

They're up on YouTube, I see it on YouTube.

Speaker 3:

I'm almost like.

Speaker 1:

Oh, what do you?

Speaker 3:

Well, I'm on my TV. It's on my TV, but it's not.

Speaker 1:

Oh, yeah, you're watching on TV. Yeah, you don't get. You don't see comments on uh, you, you can't. I don't think you can make comments on television or leave, leave comments on uh when you're watching it on television. I think it's only when you're on you know your phone, or your phone?

Speaker 3:

Uh well, I I figured.

Speaker 1:

Brenda wouldn't really want to come on a second week in a row. I called her a lot. Who, alright, who did you text to tell to?

Speaker 3:

call me.

Speaker 1:

Oh okay, Hold on Hold on. Yeah, let's this makes, don't think, catherine's comments so this, this makes, for some reason, that's something that's on the edge of their seats right now. It's been going to have to take another drink Is what everyone is thinking. It's what everyone is saying right now. I'm going to spare everyone and and I'm not going to stay on the air more than an hour, though. Yeah, oh, wait a minute. Who's alright? Hang on. You have to call you to take a Hold. On hold, hello.

Speaker 2:

How are you today?

Speaker 1:

I'm great. Who's calling?

Speaker 2:

Well, this is the fabulous fab Hector. I Just borrow money and get on your nerves. Anything. Laugh with you, joke with you.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, well, you can joke with me. Yeah, what fab, hector.

Speaker 2:

Yes.

Speaker 1:

Oh, you're watching the show right now.

Speaker 2:

Not. I'm hearing that you guys are on and I can't get it on. What? Yeah?

Speaker 1:

So where are you calling from?

Speaker 2:

But I want to see you.

Speaker 1:

Well, you have to have to turn on YouTube.

Speaker 2:

Okay, well, I'm gonna try it again, and and that's what I'm gonna do right now. But, man, you in a minute.

Speaker 1:

Okay, well, well, you were lit. I mean, I don't, you got my number.

Speaker 2:

Absolutely your knees.

Speaker 1:

Lisa Rio. Okay, all right. So I told Lisa. I said, if for every person that calls in, I'm gonna take a shot of malort, which is the worst tasting alcohol. Yeah, so, yeah, I already took, I already took. Okay, I already took one shot. Okay. So you called in right now, fab, so I'm gonna take another one. Okay, I'm take. Okay, you won't be able to see this until you get on YouTube, but I'm gonna take this one for you and then I'm gonna let you go. How's that? All right? And then you can watch, all right. So this one's for you. Cheers, fab. All right, oh, that was bad. Oh God, that was more sexy now though what's that?

Speaker 2:

Don't get no more sexy. Now, though, more sexy. I'm going to go get on YouTube so I can see you guys.

Speaker 1:

All right, you get on and then you can get in the chat. Then, too, right, we'll do. All right, we'll see you by now. Oh my gosh, that's great. That is great. People see, this is what I'm talking about. See, let's just have a little bit of fun on a Friday night. Yeah, whew, god, that was nasty, but, like I said, one shot for every person that calls in. So that's great. Oh my gosh, that's awesome. That is awesome. Well, we're going to see what happens.

Speaker 1:

Apparently, my niece hung up. You know, didn't? It used to be on your cell phone where, if you were on one call and someone else called in, you could like conference them. I thought you could do that, but maybe not, I don't know, because I was hoping to have both Lisa and Fab on at the same time, but that didn't work out. So Lisa ended up hanging up. Wow, oh, no, no, down to two views. Come on, come on, let's go. People Pick it up. We were up to four. That's double, double what I had last week, yeah, so, oh, we're back up to three. That must be fab. Is that you fab? There's Lisa, she's calling back. Hold on, lisa, hold on, let's see. Let's get you right there. All right, you there.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

You know what I didn't? I didn't hang up on you but I couldn't, I couldn't. I was trying to conference you in but there was no. Well, there was no button to do it. I thought it used to be where you could do that. Hold on a second, hang on really quick. No, no, no, I was going to do it. I was going to call. I was going to call fab. Oh, you're going to call fab. Wait, wait, who's shell? Wait, wait, wait, wait. Okay, you call her. Okay, you call her. I'm going to. I got to send a message to Shelly Ray. She just said hi, there's fab. Hey, there's fab. I found you. This is the lovely fab, hector. Yes, shelly Ray, hi, Shelly, let me see, let's see.

Speaker 2:

I'm going to call you.

Speaker 1:

Hi All right, shelly. Yeah, hold on. I was leaving a message for Shelly. She just said hi, hi, shelly Bam. Oh yeah, all right, what's going on?

Speaker 2:

Oh man, I'm going to call those shots. That's all Now. Shelly Ray, shelly Ray, shelly Ray, shelly Ray.

Speaker 1:

Shelly Ray, shelly Ray, now shelly Ray, shelly.

Speaker 3:

Ray Take another one.

Speaker 1:

I called back Wait, what Now, shelly Ray? She said hi there, and then I said hi, shelly, and she said oh again. So Really, you're going to make me do this again.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, hi.

Speaker 1:

Because I think it's in like 17 countries.

Speaker 2:

That's legal when somebody calls back yeah, oh really, is that the law? Is that the law? Oh, really Is that the law in 17 countries? Yeah, it's like new obligation all over again.

Speaker 1:

Oh wait, wait, Hang on. Can you see, can you take it? Shelly says take a shot, shelly Ray. Ew Wait wait, wait, shut, shut, shut, Wait, wait, wait. Yeah, no, she wait. No, shelly, wait, hang on, Hold it before I do this. Shelly Ray, are you Lisa's friend?

Speaker 3:

We got to get George on here, don't you? All right and.

Speaker 1:

Wow All right, Okay.

Speaker 3:

So I had we're in a group that he was my co-workers and was texting and I said, hey, you guys got to call my uncle.

Speaker 1:

So yeah, here, here, here. Well, here, here you go, here you go. Okay, here you go. Oh, okay, I just busted Shelly Ray. She says maybe.

Speaker 3:

What.

Speaker 1:

Oh it gets worse.

Speaker 2:

Oh, sexy, sexy, sexy oh.

Speaker 1:

Well, I'm yeah, cheers, cheers, Shelly. Yeah, I know that's so nasty.

Speaker 3:

I don't know, how can we not breathe?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I think so. You have to. That's a good thing. Yeah, I think so. I think it's three, oh my gosh. Hey, well, lisa, you know I'll tell you what you've done more for Friday Night Live than the rest of the family has done for my entire podcast. So I appreciate that. I really do Anything I could do to help. Yeah, you know. And now now, fab and Shelly, are you going to be regular viewers to the podcast? I don't do that, okay.

Speaker 2:

You're on a problem now Okay.

Speaker 1:

Well, listen, I don't do this on a regular basis. As far as drinking on the air, I don't drink that much period, but I'm not drinking to. That's not what I do. But I certainly could use more viewers and more subscribers to my channel.

Speaker 2:

Okay, Well, Friday might be the Friday, no Well yeah, now, now, friday Night Live.

Speaker 1:

This is a little something different. There's no, there's no script, there's no notes. I don't have a guest in here. Wow, that's starting to hit, but but, oh, excuse me, oh the oh, the burps on that are terrible. But anyway, yeah, it's just me and you, whoever's watching, and I'm going to do it for an hour. Now I'll tell you this Fab, I am taking next Friday night off. Okay, we've done two Fridays in a row and it was just so spontaneous and I did it for kicks last week. It was just a last minute thing. But, like I said, this is so far removed from what my, from what my podcast is actually about.

Speaker 3:

You have to get big sexy on there. She's into the music. Her husband plays the bass and plays the bass for a. Can you hear me?

Speaker 1:

I can hear you yeah.

Speaker 3:

Okay.

Speaker 1:

I hear you, just fine, you should get her husband big sexy on. Oh, yeah, yeah, I thought. Wait, I thought I was big sexy.

Speaker 2:

No no. You're drinking sexy. You're drinking sexy.

Speaker 1:

Oh, okay, is the? Is the drinking making me sexy? It always does.

Speaker 3:

Oh, we have a lot of goggles on right now, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Hey, hey, that's not, that's not nice. Hang on, I gotta. I gotta say I gotta say hello to Dan. Hold on, uh, sally husband, okay, all right, hi, dan Boom. Oh wait, did I? Oh no, I didn't put that on there, let me, let me Wait you got what you got, to take another one. No, no, no, no, no one's called in.

Speaker 3:

All right, we gotta get the else to call in. You just get the number.

Speaker 2:

And there we go.

Speaker 1:

The number here You're going to get, you're going to. He said oh la, this is like, this is like the the Ben Maynard program with guest stars Lisa's crew.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

It's like he'll date. Oh my gosh, so these are all my old co-workers. Well, no, shelly and I work together now, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Well, that's no, that's, that's fine, that's good. Look, there's only, there's only six and a half minutes left of the show. Okay, that only do. I only do an hour on Friday night.

Speaker 3:

Why what?

Speaker 1:

Oh well, I was just talking, that's all I was talking to my people and um.

Speaker 3:

Your person.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, actually, I was talking to my one viewer, my wife.

Speaker 3:

Your wife yeah.

Speaker 1:

So no, I was just talking about stuff, and, and so I decided, okay, well, I'm running out of things to say with. I know it's hard to believe, right? Yeah, nobody believes that I ever run out of anything to say. So I thought, well, I'm going to make a couple of phone calls because no one else was calling in. So I figured, well, let me, let me get this thing jump started here, and that's what I did. Spaz didn't answer, bob didn't answer. So, oh, you know who I sent a text to, though I sent a text to deep cut Dennis.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, he just. He had his granddaughter though, so he couldn't come on tonight.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

But I got to get him back on the show. He's great. He is so great I could just How'd he get deep cut, dennis?

Speaker 2:

How'd he get that name?

Speaker 1:

Well, he got that name from Heidi and Frank on KLS, because they do. They do a segment on Wednesday mornings called deep cut face off and Dennis Dennis really was the, the, the one listener who called in, played by the rules and gave and gave them these really, I mean really deep cuts to play on the air. So because he was doing that, they, they dubbed him deep cut Dennis and he, like I said, we you know, weekend and week out, he's the one that really plays by the rules and he just. But he's got an incredible knowledge of music and, like I have described before, I have a great knowledge of music, but mine is more. You know, it's in my. I stay in my lane, let's put it that way. So the stuff that I like, this is it right here? Dennis has a great breadth of knowledge on music, so he stretches his stuff out, likes. You know. I'll give an example If I like 10 bands, dennis likes a hundred.

Speaker 1:

So, so he's just got a great breadth of knowledge on a lot of different bands and when I had them on the program it we had so much fun and he was so nervous about coming on and I was like it's just me, there's nobody, there's nothing to be nervous about, it's just you and it's me and I'm nobody special. So you know, he came on and we had such a good time, we had some good laughs and when we were done we shut off the, we shut off the camera and everything. We stopped recording and he says, oh my gosh, I had so much fun. I can't believe how much fun I had. I said I told you.

Speaker 1:

So that's kind of been everybody's reaction. Once they come on the program and once they've had a little experience with it, they some people are a little apprehensive and some are a little nervous about it and I just say, just do it and you're gonna have a good time. And once we hit stop after we record, they're like, oh my gosh, I had a good time. You're right, I had so much fun. I didn't know I would have this much fun.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, you gotta get having our husband on the show. You're a friend, you gotta get them on the show.

Speaker 1:

Hey, we can do that. We can do that. I don't know, maybe we'll have to. We'll save it for, we'll save it for a Friday night live and maybe we'll bust out the tequila and we'll do and we'll play some trivia.

Speaker 3:

You don't drink fab, right Well.

Speaker 2:

I'll talk to you about that. I think I don't know if this is your face, but I'll tell you honest. My husband, he knows a lot of music stuff and, yeah, he's been a musician his life and yeah, that's good stuff and fab.

Speaker 1:

Let me say this okay, this podcast, this program, the way I describe it is that if you look at my podcast artwork, it says tell your story. And I like to say everyone has a story, not just the famous, not just the, not just the ones with celebrity and notoriety, but everyone has a story. And so that's why I just I love to have people on this show. It doesn't always have to be about music, but I know. But you know, when I'm primarily by myself doing this, I'm gonna talk a lot about music. But I have had guests on the show related to music as well. I mean, dennis is one, my buddy Spaz is another. He's done a couple of shows with me and I would love it. I would love it. We'll set it up, we'll set it up and we'll do it. You know, you and your husband come into the studio, we'll just, we'll have a good time, we'll talk about, we'll tell. Well, we won't. Your husband can tell, we'll tell, or you'll tell your husband can tell his story.

Speaker 2:

Yes, I have to make sure. Yeah, I'll try and do some kind of injection or something first, so that later. So yeah, he'll be fine.

Speaker 1:

Shelly Ray says Lisa has a story to tell. Look, Lisa's got a lot of stories to tell.

Speaker 3:

Yes, Well, look, shelly, we were supposed to be on his show a couple of weeks ago cause we were all together, but it didn't happen. But Brenda was tired, so we didn't get to go on.

Speaker 1:

I was so mad. I'm like are you kidding me? I'm trying to. You know, I'm trying to, I'm trying to do a show here, and what's funny is that that everybody thinks this is like no big deal, and I mean it's not really a big deal but and I'm certainly no big deal. But when you are doing something like this, when you are putting out a podcast and you are making at least you're making a commitment to put out one, at least one program a week and you wanna deliver good content. So when somebody backs out like last minute after they make a commitment, yeah I get upset. So, yeah, I was upset two weeks ago, fab, I had my knee.

Speaker 3:

It was already getting late. In our defense, it was already getting late. So that's why I'm burning up with fire, so we'll do it again. I mean we all were gonna do it.

Speaker 1:

So we plan another day and we'll do it. Well, I just have to have yes but, how I mean you know. Okay, here's the deal.

Speaker 2:

Besides this next Friday, that you won't have a podcast usually. What time would you start?

Speaker 1:

Well, if I'm doing Friday Night Live which this is only the second week and this has all just been completely spontaneous, fab I'll do it at about seven o'clock on Friday night. Now, if I'm gonna do a regular show, because when I started this podcast, fab, I wasn't working, I was off work, I was off with an injury and I was recovering from a surgery. So I was off for a whole year and I started this show back in October and what I was doing is putting out two to three episodes per week. So I was really putting out a lot of content because I knew I was gonna end up going back to work and I wanted to make sure that whatever audience I have, that they had some content to listen to, to watch, after I went back to work. So I put out almost 25 episodes before I went back to work Wow, and I think that tonight is episode 28. So what I right now?

Speaker 1:

I've made a commitment, though, because when you do something like this, you have to stay consistent with it, otherwise you'll lose your audience. It doesn't matter if it's a thousand people or if it's one person. If you're not consistent, you'll lose your audience. So I made a commitment to them that I would, that once I went back to work, I would still put out at least one episode a week, and so that's why I've done the Friday night live, because I come home from work and it's like okay, boom, let me get up to the studio, I can put in an hour. I can talk about nothing and get it done. So that's what I did the last two weeks. I actually did put out a fresh new episode pre-recorded not live on Saturday, so I did two episodes last week. I don't think I'm gonna get two episodes this week, but we'll see how that goes. I'm looking, I'm looking to. I'm sorry, go ahead.

Speaker 2:

I want to get your alerts, man, because I want to stay with it if you're gonna be.

Speaker 1:

Friday. Here's the thing, fab subscribe to the channel. If you subscribe to the channel, you will get a notification every time I put out an episode. You will get a notification if I'm gonna go live. Well, I don't know if you'll get a notification if I'm gonna go live unless I put it on YouTube.

Speaker 3:

Okay, here's the thing. Go follow him on Instagram or Facebook. He puts all his.

Speaker 1:

You know when he's going live or when his show's next to him and all that. Yes, yes, you can. You can follow me on Instagram it's just Ben Maynard program and follow me there. And Catherine, my wife, she takes care of all my social media. She's the one that does it all. She's the mom and dirt or the whatever the one after. Yeah, she's my social media person and so she does all that stuff. But I mean, I post all my shows, or when I publish a new episode, I'll put a notification on Facebook. Catherine puts a notification on her Facebook, but then she also puts notifications on her Instagram, on my Instagram. So we try to do the social media thing as best we can. Dan, I still see you there. If you're still watching, subscribe to the channel, shelly Ray, subscribe to the channel. Everybody that's watching, subscribe to the channel, please Listen, listen. I'm not doing this for any other reason other than I enjoy it. I'm not. I will probably never make one dime off of this fab.

Speaker 3:

Hey, you like doing it, though, you know oh and the whole goal was never to make money.

Speaker 1:

I mean, it's never been about money, it's always been about doing it because I enjoy it, because this is something that I don't know. 30 years ago I thought it would be cool to be on the radio, but 30 years ago you couldn't do it. If you bought the equipment to do so, you probably couldn't broadcast any further than the end of your street. And then, of course, sooner or later, the FAA or not FAA, the FCC, would find your signal and come down on you. It was against the law. I mean, that's what was called pirate radio. So now, in the last what 15 years, podcasting has become a thing and so anyone can podcast. Anyone can put together a podcast, and I know I'll probably get comments on this If people say get off, stop, you know, quit while you're behind. But the beauty in Put it to your family, the beauty in podcasting is that anyone can do it. The bad part about podcasting is that anyone can do it.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I've seen some.

Speaker 1:

Right, there's gonna be good stuff and bad stuff out there, and I was telling before the two of you came on, I was telling the audience, all of one. I was telling the audience that for me, I never listened to my shows once I published them. But I have been listening to some of the older ones in the last week because I wanna see how it sounds to me and I wanna critique myself, and I think we are our own worst critic and I'm very hard on myself. I truly believe, fab, that the content that I bring to this program is quality. I don't think. In listening to some of my episodes, I don't think that I have delivered the right energy or delivered the message the right way. So that's just me. But then again, my family all says I love the sound of my own voice and I don't. I hate, I hate the sound of my own voice. I love talking, though.

Speaker 3:

That's what I think we meant. That's like, literally like Well yes, of course.

Speaker 1:

of course I love to talk, fab, but I Look at the lonely. But I do not like the sound of my own voice. I don't, I can't stand it. So maybe that's part of it too. When I listen to this stuff, when I listen to the playback on it, it's like, oh my gosh, I feel like my voice, I feel like it's nails on a chalkboard. But that's for me. Maybe that's not for somebody else, I don't know. Oh my gosh, that my Lord is hitting me right now. Shot, shot, shot. I probably just muted the mic with that clap. Oh my gosh, now I'm starting to ooh my jaw. My jaw is starting to get numb.

Speaker 3:

Is your mouth watering? Are you salivating?

Speaker 1:

No, no, no, no, I'm not salivating at all, Just you know, starting to feel it I need to eat something now.

Speaker 3:

You work, you work today.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, I work today. I put in a. I put in a 60, like a 61 and a half hour week this week.

Speaker 3:

Wow, yeah, I know.

Speaker 1:

It's. You know this is week number three back from me and it's like, okay, welcome back to work, Ben Boom, and I have, I think, a week my first week back I put in 59 and a half hours and that was the least amount. Oh, wow, yeah, it's been crazy. Hey, I mean it hasn't. I haven't been killing myself, so that's the good part. I still feel good, but, yeah, it's a lot of hours. But you know what Catherine loves the checks, so that's okay.

Speaker 3:

Oh yeah, I'm sure she's glad that you're back to work.

Speaker 1:

Well, she's glad I'm back to work because I'm out of her hair. I'm out of her back to work. Yeah, I'm just, I'm out of the house and I'm out of her hair. Hey, shelly Ray, if you're still watching, make sure you subscribe to the channel, okay? And Dan, if you're still watching, subscribe to the channel, all right. I think I have like 55 subscribers, so I'm kind of happy about that, but I was hoping for a hundred before the end of 2023 and it didn't happen. Yeah, yeah, I was hoping for. Yeah, come on, fabby, you still there.

Speaker 1:

You know it All right. Oh, shelly Ray says we'll do excellent, excellent, shelley, I appreciate that. I appreciate that I really do. There's some fun stuff on there really. I mean, look, yes, I talk a lot of music, but I do have some guests in and there's some that we don't talk about music. So, yeah, so I think I think this show has a lot, has a lot to offer to a Lot of people not to everyone, but to a lot of people I really do, and that's why I do it.

Speaker 2:

Well, I'll tell you, dan, I'm actually trying to send my husband back to work too. He's all gone retired three years ago and I'm like, okay, he's back to work now.

Speaker 1:

He's home too much now. Huh, he's just. I just got it way, way to end him and hold it, hold it. I just got a notification right now. Shelley Ray just subscribed to my channel. You rock, shelley, you rock. I think I have like.

Speaker 3:

There's a shot of the Lord right there.

Speaker 1:

Oh, my god, you're trying to get me. You are really trying to get me thrashed, aren't you? Hold on a second? Hold on, wait a second, let me see. Let me see. 54. Okay, let's try to refresh that to your channel. 55 subscribers, okay, all right. All right, just because you asked Lisa, just because you demanded, I'll do it Just for Shelley. Hold on, oh, I'd take a drink first.

Speaker 2:

Oh.

Speaker 1:

Man all right, Hold on this nasty stuff. Oh it's terrible, terrible. Well, because of its nasty. Come on, you know how this works, lisa. You should know how this works when it Exactly. That's why I just said why would you? Because when it? Because when it's bad, it draws more people. It's about drawing more people to the show. I'm down, listen, listen. I was up, okay. I was up to five Viewers. Now I'm down to three, okay.

Speaker 1:

They might have. They might have. Okay, well, actually they probably did, because I got you, fab and Catherine. There we go.
